Dr David Johnson appointed new Chair of Trustees for Sheffcare

DR David Johnson of Sheffield Hallam University has been named the new Chair of Trustees of Sheffield not for profit residential care home group Sheffcare.

Dr Johnson, who takes over from retiring Chair Steve Hustler, has worked within social care environments for a number of years, managing local authority children's services at a senior level.

He also worked for a large private sector organisation and took up the role of regional director managing operations in Devon, Wales and the Northeast of England.

In addition, he has also worked in Europe in a Romanian province to help develop a local child protection process.

In 2007 he joined Sheffield Hallam University, working within the Centre for Leadership in Health and Social care and in this role he was responsible for leadership teaching and consultancy work to health and social care professionals and organisations, leading the MSc Health and Social Care Leadership programme and developing a number of consultancy projects.

In July 2015 he joined the Department of Social Work, Social Care and community Studies and as an Academic Delivery Manager he is responsible for the academic delivery of the range of programmes that the Department offers.

Sheffcare Chief Executive Belinda Black commented: “We believe that David is the perfect choice to follow in the footsteps of Steve, who will be sadly missed by everybody within the organisation.

“David brings with him a wealth of experience in social care that will be invaluable as we not only continue to provide our excellent levels of support for residents at our ten care homes across the city but also as we develop new services to meet the needs of a constantly changing sector.”
